Thigh Lift
Consultations offered at our two convenient locations in Houston and Sugar Land, TX
A thigh lift (thighplasty) is a procedure that contours the thighs by removing excess skin to help you achieve a slimmer, more proportional figure. Although maintaining a proper diet and exercising frequently are fantastic ways to keep your body in shape, some areas are difficult to tone no matter how much you focus on them. Stubborn fat and loose, saggy skin can distort your body proportions, but a thigh lift can restore them.
Whether you have been trying to achieve that coveted “thigh gap” or you just want to be able to walk around without feeling your thighs rubbing together, a thigh lift with Dr. Ahmad Ahmadi can help. Dr. Ahmadi is a board-certified plastic surgeon in Houston TX, who has been in practice since 2002. His passion for body contouring started early in his career. His pioneering work to combine tummy tucks and liposuction culminated in the LipoTuck™ procedure. Dr. Ahmadi is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). When you come to Avante Plastic Surgery, you will receive personalized care and a customized surgical plan to help you achieve slimmer thighs.

About Thigh Lifts
If you are struggling with stretch marks or sagging skin after weight loss, a thigh lift can eliminate them for a smoother figure. Surgeons performed 9,421 thigh lifts in 2022 to help patients meet their body goals. (1) If you are looking for a body contouring treatment after weight loss, we can perform liposuction to help you achieve a smoother figure. Liposuction and thigh lift treatments achieve different objectives but are very powerful when combined. Liposuction is all you need if you have bulging excess fat without sagging skin. In 2021, specialists performed more than 491,000 liposuction treatments to eliminate excess fat. (2) However, liposuction cannot tighten loose skin– only surgical excision can remove sagging skin. Dr. Ahmadi often adds liposuction to thigh lifts to achieve better contouring. During your consultation, Dr. Ahmadi will examine the treatment area and determine which procedure suits you best.

Thigh Lift Candidates
You are a good candidate for a thigh lift if you have loose skin on the thighs or knees. A good test is to pull on the skin and observe if the sagginess is corrected. The best candidates for a thigh lift are nonsmokers who exercise regularly and take good care of their skin. During your consultation at Avante Plastic Surgery, Dr. Ahmadi will examine you to determine if a thigh lift procedure suits your needs.
Consultation
If you are interested in a thigh lift, the first step is to contact Avante Plastic Surgery and schedule your consultation. When you come in for your appointment, you will meet with Dr. Ahmadi to discuss your current concerns and aesthetic goals for your thighs. He will examine the treatment area and ask questions about your medical history and lifestyle. It is important to remember that Dr. Ahmadi is completely discreet and confidential, so your honesty and openness will help prevent unnecessary risks.
Virtual Consultation
For your convenience, we offer virtual consultations. If you decide to proceed with the surgery, we will ask you to come for a face-to-face consultation at a later date. After your procedure, we recommend that you remain in town for 3-5 days. Please call us for recommendations for accommodations nearby. For a complete makeover, Dr. Ahmadi may suggest combining a thigh lift with other body contouring procedures such as an arm lift, breast lift, or tummy tuck. How to Prepare for a Thigh Lift
To prepare for a thigh lift:
- Stop taking blood thinners 1-2 weeks before your procedure.
- Refrain from drinking alcohol 24 hours before and after your procedure.
- Cease smoking 4-6 weeks before and after your treatment.
- Arrive at your appointment in clothing you can easily remove.
- Arrange for a trustworthy adult to drive you home.
- Prepare your meals ahead of time to prevent trips to the store.
Thigh Lift Procedure
Dr. Ahmadi performs thigh lifts at our QUAD-A-certified in-house surgery center. During the procedure, Dr. Ahmadi makes an incision over the hip (often as an extension of the tummy tuck incision). There are two surgical techniques to perform the inner thigh lift: (3)
- The groin crease incision: The groin crease incision method lifts the upper third of the inner thigh.
- The inner thigh longitudinal incision: The inner longitudinal surgical technique can correct excess inner thigh skin down to the knees if needed. The scar is hidden on the inner thigh inner aspect and heals exceptionally well.
Thigh lift surgery typically lasts 2-3 hours, but the time depends on the amount of excess skin you wish to remove. Dr. Ahmadi does not use drains for the thigh lift procedure. Avoiding unnecessary drains results in less discomfort and a quicker recovery.
Thigh Lift Recovery
Following our detailed postoperative instructions is important to ensure a quick recovery. Swelling begins to subside after five days and usually resolves after 6 weeks. You must wear a compression garment for six weeks after surgery. We strongly recommend that you avoid strenuous activities during this time.
We recommend having a caregiver around for 5 days after your thigh lift procedure. After 10 days, you may drive short distances or return to a desk job. However, if your job requires you to be physically active, you should wait for 6 weeks after the surgery to return to work. For the first six weeks post-surgery, you should refrain from lifting, pulling, or pushing more than 5 lbs. Furthermore, we advise against any activity that increases your heart rate.
Dr. Ahmadi will keep an eye on your recovery to ensure that keloids do not form during or after a surgical procedure, and provide tips to prevent their occurrence. We will temporarily prescribe you some pain medication to help alleviate any discomfort during your recovery.
Thigh Lift Results
After your thigh lift, you can enjoy a slimmer figure and balanced body proportions for many years. You can easily maintain your slender legs with exercise and a healthy diet. Many patients also find that their clothes fit more comfortably after a thigh lift and that their skincare routine improves when they no longer have to worry about excess droopy skin.
Cost of a Thigh Lift in Houston
The cost of a thigh lift will depend on the condition of your thighs and the amount of excess skin you wish to remove. After your consultation, our patient coordinator will be able to give you a breakdown of the full price for your surgery. To schedule your consultation with Dr. Ahmadi, please contact our office or call 281-265-2639. We cannot wait to meet you and help you on your aesthetic journey.
FAQ
Is a thigh lift painful?
Compared to other surgeries, a thigh lift is not typically very painful. Anesthesia will be used, so you should be comfortable throughout your procedure. After surgery, you can expect to feel some pain in your thighs, as well as swelling and bruising around the incision sites. Dr. Ahmadi will temporarily prescribe you some pain medication to help alleviate any pain or discomfort during your initial recovery as well as some directions that will also help.
Can I get liposuction instead of a thigh lift?
Liposuction and thigh lift achieve different objectives but are very powerful if combined. Liposuction is all you need if you have bulging tissue and no sagging skin. Liposuction removed excess fat. However, liposuction cannot tighten loose skin. Only surgical excision can remove sagging skin. With that being said, Dr. Ahmadi often adds liposuction to thigh lifts to achieve better contouring. During your consultation, Dr. Ahmdai will examine and determine which procedure suits you.
How many appointments will I need?
You will need to return about a week after surgery so that Dr. Ahmadi can evaluate your recovery and remove any stitches or bandages. After this initial follow-up, you can expect at least two more times over the next few months. We take Thigh Lift photos six weeks after the procedure. Dr. Ahmadi will always let you know if and when he would like to see you again.
